Gas done!
So here are the shots of the trench being dug and the gas dudes fitting our supply!
I was upstairs painting the bedroom and all of a sudden this massive truck pulls up, collects the dirt and the boys had layed the tarmac!- I got a thumbs up "all done mate" and they were gone!
It only took them a couple of hours! I kept smelling gas and then remembering they were out there!
Powergen are coming today to fit the meter so I'm off to do some more painting whilst I wait for them - any time between 12 and 8 apparently! - great I'll take my time!
The boiler looks good, really neat, just nead to work out how to use it!!
Finished Brickwork!!
Here it is the finished brickwork all that mortar scraping was well worth it!
We have pointed with a traditional Lime based putty and it makes the brickwork jump out at you! For a wall that was never meant to be seen it doesn't look half bad, it is very in and out/ bumpy (yes that is a technical term) but it just looks amazing.
As you can probably tell we are very excited about it! The plumber is amazing, we have had a right result!, as you can see by the photo's the radiators are up ( he had them all up by the end of the 1st day!), all the pipework is in (Done on days two and three) and all that is left to do is install the boiler (he is there today so hopefully will have it done!)
As for the plasterer he has been to have a look and unfortunately can't get in till after the bank holiday, but he ensures me its only a couple of days work! and the wood is ordered for the floor so that will be down very soon!
We have the gas board in tomorrow (Wed 23rd) to connect the gas mains and then Powergen are coming to fit the meter on Thursday! We might even have central heating by the end of the week!!!!
I'll post some photo's tomorrow once it is all done! (hopefully! ;))
Things Can Only Get Better!!
Ok Ok so I haven't posted for ages, sorry!- here is where we are up too, the bricklayer is in today, it's his last day he has re pointed the chimney and exposed wall and has laid the hearth- it looks amazing I will post some photo's soon but at the mo you are going to have to take my word for it. The plumber has been around this morning to finalize a few things and is due in on Mon to start the heating install!!, the gas is being connected on the 23rd and meter installed on 24th. Laura is painting the bedrooms today as she goes to Brazil on Sat for a fortnight and is gutted that she is going to miss most of the big work :(.
So left to do is:
Sockets need moving
Plastering needs doing
Floor needs laying
Trench needs digging for Gas
Drive/ Front garden needs sorting
Bathroom
Decorating
So all in all there is light at the end of the tunnel, I am going to be working my proverbial off to try and get it done before Laura gets back (well the first 4 things any way) so that we can think about moving in on the 29th/ 30th!!!!!- We are soooo excited!
I'll post some photo's soon!
